QK-TEX

When QK-TEX needed a smarter way to make their entrance dry and accessible, we stepped in with a bespoke canopy that ticked all the boxes – weather protection, clean design and full accessibility.

Background

QK-TEX is a specialist manufacturer of lightweight honeycomb panel components. Operating from their site in North Lincolnshire, they were looking for a simple way to protect their entrance and improve the everyday experience for staff and visitors.

Their main entrance was exposed to the weather. Wind and rain would often blow straight into the building when the sliding doors were open, making the reception area uncomfortable and less energy efficient. The team needed a practical, good-looking solution that would keep the elements out and improve the first impression of the site.

The requirement

QK-TEX wanted a stylish, durable canopy that would protect the main entrance while keeping clear and unobstructed access. Because of the narrow approach, ground-level posts weren’t an option, especially as they could restrict movement for wheelchair users.

The challenge

The biggest challenge was the limited space around the entrance. With access being a priority, we needed to avoid anything that could narrow the walkway or interrupt the flow of people coming in and out. Our custom bracket system solved this completely, creating a clean, secure installation that is practical and looks great.

The solution

After visiting the site and exploring the options, we recommended the Olympus curved entrance canopy – a sleek, modern design that would fit well with the building’s look.

To get around the recessed doorway and tight working area, we designed bespoke steel brackets that fixed the canopy directly to the building. This meant no posts on the ground, keeping the space open and accessible, while also allowing the canopy to sit flush with the central glass section and form a weathertight seal.

Results

The new entrance canopy has transformed the front of QK-TEX’s facility. It keeps wind and rain out, improves the appearance of the building and ensures easy access for all visitors. The installation was completed on time, with minimal disruption and the client was very happy with the outcome.
