What we’re doing now

Sustainability is becoming a bigger focus at every stage of our process, from design to delivery. Here’s a look at the measures already in place as part of Canopies UK’s sustainability policies:

 

  • ISO 14001 certified: We’ve been recognised for our environmental management system, which helps us track and reduce our environmental impact in a structured way.
  • Powered by the sun: Solar panels on our office and factory buildings are helping us cut our carbon footprint and use energy more efficiently.
  • Smarter heating: We’ve installed a radiant gas heating system that improves conditions in our factory and reduces energy use.
  • Cutting waste, boosting recycling: Better waste systems and more recycling options have helped us lower disposal costs and send less waste to landfill.
  • Lower-emission transport: We’ve introduced electric vehicles and downsized our fleet to reduce fuel usage and emissions.
  • End-to-end impact tracking – We look at the environmental impact of our canopies throughout their life cycle and use what we learn to keep improving.

Sustainable materials

We’re choosing smarter materials and working with suppliers to find more responsible options, like resins made from plant-based ingredients and food industry by-products. They help cut down on fossil fuel use by replacing petroleum-based ingredients – a simple switch that makes our supply chain cleaner without affecting the end product.

We’re also designing with the full product lifecycle in mind. That means prioritising longevity, making reuse and recycling easier and keeping circular thinking at the heart of how we work.

Looking ahead

We’ve made good progress so far, but we know there’s more to do. We’re aiming for Net Zero carbon emissions by 2035. That goal is shaping everything from how we operate to who we work with. It’s central to Canopies UK’s sustainability policies.
