Baschurch Primary School

We worked with Baschurch Primary School to install a cantilever canopy in their forest school garden – creating a sheltered spot where children can keep learning, playing and exploring, even when the weather turns.

Background

The forest school garden area at Baschurch Primary School plays a big role in helping children connect with nature. It’s perfect for outdoor learning, discovery and play, but with no cover in place, the space couldn’t be used in poor weather – which meant missed opportunities. The team wanted a way to make the area more reliable, without taking away from its natural feel.

The requirement

Baschurch School needed a canopy that would:

  • Provide shelter without interrupting the openness of the space
  • Blend in well with the natural setting
  • Be installed quickly ahead of a planned parents’ open evening

With a parents’ open evening coming up, the school saw a chance to make a meaningful improvement and showcase it in time for the tour. They chose our Connekt cantilever canopy – a neat, practical design that creates clear space underneath and has no supporting posts getting in the way.

The Planning

The school were keen to have the canopy installed before welcoming new families on site. That gave us a short window to complete the survey, manufacture the frame and carry out the installation.

Working closely with the team, we made sure everything was in place in time and ready to show parents how the school is investing in outdoor learning.

Results

The new canopy has become a well-used part of the forest school garden. Whether it’s drizzling or pouring, pupils now have a sheltered base to return to and staff can keep outdoor learning going without needing to head back indoors.
