Background
Outdoor time at The Brook Primary School was cut short too often by poor weather. With no cover on the playground, wet days meant children were stuck inside, missing out on playtime and outdoor learning.
Equipment was getting caught up in the same problem. Items left outside were risking damage from the rain, so teachers were spending time moving things in and out of the classroom just to keep them in good condition.
The school wanted a practical fix: covered outdoor space that would keep the playground usable whatever the weather.
The requirement
The school needed a canopy that would:
- Give pupils access to outdoor play and learning in all weathers
- Create a sheltered area connecting directly to the classroom
- Allow outdoor equipment to stay in place without getting damaged
The Solution
We installed a Connekt cantilever canopy on a raised section of the playground. Positioned to run directly from the classroom out into the open, it creates a continuous covered area that makes moving between indoors and out straightforward for staff and pupils alike.
The cantilever design keeps the space underneath open and unobstructed, with no front posts to work around.

Results
The school now has covered outdoor space that can be used every day, rain or shine. Children can get outside regardless of the weather, and the teacher’s time previously spent moving equipment back and forth has been freed up.
The installation was completed within a week, with the canopy ready to use from day one.
