Midshire Catering – Standish High School

We worked with Midshire Catering Services and Standish High School to install an enclosed dining canopy, giving students more space to eat and spend time together while keeping lunchtimes running smoothly.

Background

As part of bidding for the school’s catering contract, Midshire Catering spotted that more dining space was needed. The existing dining hall often felt overcrowded, which made lunchtimes harder to manage. The school were looking for a practical and affordable way to create extra seating without building a permanent extension.

The requirement

The school and catering team wanted a canopy that would:

  • Give students more covered dining space
  • Be a more affordable option than a traditional brick build
  • Be fully enclosed and usable all year-round, in any weather
  • Be ready in time for the new school year and catering contract

The challenge

The project had a tight deadline, with everything needing to be finished before pupils returned in September. Because it was an enclosed system, the job had to be done in two stages: the canopy frame first, then measuring, making and fitting the side panels and doors. The timing had to be spot on to make sure both phases were completed before the new term started.

The solution

We installed a Connekt Colosseum canopy with UPVC side panels and two sets of double doors, creating a secure and weatherproof dining space. By completing the main frame installation before the summer break ended, the panels could be ordered and fitted in time for the start of term.

Results

The new enclosed canopy has created additional dining space that students use every day, no matter the weather. By choosing a canopy instead of a brick extension, the school got the extra space they needed quickly and at a lower cost.

The canopy has helped take the pressure off the main dining hall, making lunchtimes easier to manage and giving pupils a comfortable place to sit and eat. Built with durable, low-maintenance materials, it’s a space the school can rely on long term.

Even with the tight schedule, everything was finished on time and ready for the start of the new school year – helping Midshire Catering kick off their new contract on the right note.
