Wellington School is situated in Timperley, a residential area of Altrincham, which is south of Manchester. The school is co-educational and currently has 1,365 Year 7 to 13 pupils and 80 teaching staff.
We were approached by the school’s business manager, who was looking for a way to create more space for students to sit and/eat during break and lunch times, as well as a new canopy/walkway system for the main entrance.
We need to create a sheltered area that would be:
- Large enough to help take some of the strain away from the busy canteen hall.
- In keeping with the rest of the school buildings.
We specified our highly attractive and highly functional Connekt umbrella canopies as the solution to providing the school with much-needed additional dining areas. We also opted to install one of our Connekt canopy systems over the main entrance.
Thanks to our bespoke colour-matching service, we were able to ensure that the canopies exactly matched the school’s colours, which enabled them to instantly blend in with the surrounding environment.
“Even though the school’s business manager immediately liked the look of the Connekt system, she was unsure about how the canopies would look in reality,” explains Ryan Powell, Commercial Sales Executive from Canopies UK.
“We were able to make it easier for the school to visualise the end result by superimposing images of the canopies on to pictures of the school building. We were also able to produce the canopies in the school’s colours, using our colour-matching service, which is unique to us.
Students at Wellington School now have more places to sit and/eat during break times, other than just the canteen, and the entrance way leading up to the school is now fully sheltered from the elements. Furthermore, all of the systems we installed complement the existing buildings because they 100 per cent match the school’s colours.
Susan Byiers, School Business Manager, at Wellington School, commented: “We are so happy with how the canopies look. When I first came back to school after the installation and saw them in place, I was blown away, they are brilliant.”
