Interlink Express

Background

Interlink Express is one of the UK’s leading distribution experts, servicing the need for consignments to be delivered throughout the UK and around the world. The Letchworth branch is just one of many helping to service the UK distribution.

The Requirement

Interlink Express wanted a small canopy that projected from their existing warehouse to cover the tail end of the delivery lorries as they were loaded for dispatch.

Challenges

There was a large loading bay door which they wanted to protect from the weather. The canopy had to be installed above this and allow clearance for the reversing lorries, taking into account the integral loading platform. The height of the door was 6m and it could accommodate 2 lorries side by side which also meant the width of the canopy had to be at least 6m.

The Solution

Our modular system the Connekt was chosen for this project as it is cantilevered and has been proven at many warehousing/distribution facilities.

Our in-house structural engineer had to specially design the steelwork to span over the loading bay doors, this was done as a solid framework. The posts either side of the door were then bolted down to the existing concrete slab after the load requirements were calculated, informing us that the existing concrete floor could be used as an anchor.

Added Value

Having to work at such heights we had to hire scissor lifts and lifting equipment. These were all delivered to site and our install team who are fully trained on this type of machinery were able to operate them and get straight to work on the canopy install.

We also managed to match the grey colour of the building with our bespoke colour matching service.

Results

A loading bay canopy bespoke made for the site and colour matching too.
